Bev-
I haven't done it in a while, but here goes:
Each District will have an election team(s) from the lodge.
How often they get around - will depend on the strength of
your lodge and your district OA Advisor.
See your DE about getting someone in from the lodge.
These are usually done in the early Spring.
The OA boys hold the election, and notify the SM of the
results... the boys do not know. The boys are then tapped
out at the Spring Camporee (or at the Summer Camp
campfire.) They then have the rest of the year to do their
Ordeal. There is usually an Ordeal weekend in May (before
summer camp) and August/September (after).
The election squad will go over the 'rules' prior to the
election. The election %'s are based on the number of
boys at that meeting. They will go over the
qualifications prior to passing out the ballots.
You do need to see the DE or Lodge Advisor - and get
a CURRENT copy of the qualifications to be elected.
These do sometimes vary, from lodge to lodge- year to
year. Go over these with the boys yourself. No surprises.
You don't have to do another thing- except schedule them.
