Hi All-
Our troop just returned from our week at Summer Camp. This year we went to
the Wente Scout Reservation located in Northern California. Wente
encompasses over 1800 acers of trails and activites for Scouts near the town
of Willits, CA. The camp is operated by the San Francisco Bay Area Council.
The camp has a man made, 2 square mile, lake which offers all of the aquatic
merit badges, such as swimming, lifesavinig, canoeing, rowing, small boat
sailing, etc. It also offers horse back riding, climbin, hiking. As well as
a varied list of other merit badges. Our troop of seventeen boys earned
over 80 merit badges.
The food was very good, always seconds and the medical staff was very good,
and instructed the First Aid Merit badge and held the boys to the letter of
the requirements. After listening to the lecture, I would feel very
comfortable in haveing any of the boys treat any emergency situation, they
might encounter.
The rest of the staff was equally good, and several of the boys asked if we
could come back again next year.
