Get them. Use them. Carry them. Teach the youth how to use them. Don't worry
about the extra weight. Also teach the boys how to use map and compass.
Extremely well.
Guess what I believe they will all need to be able to do - along with compass
and map navigation - in some form if they get fired up and try for the new
Ranger award. I have not seen the requirements, but I do know that the youth
officers at one point were discussing how to get sponsors who would acquire
same for Crews/councils to use in training youth and advisors in preparation
for completing the requirements.
