You will need an International Letter of Introduction application,
available from your local council office. You will be given an
international permit with the names of the International Commissioners for
each country you are visiting (useful to have if you have an emergency).
You should contact the International Division of the BSA. They can give
you some information regarding international Scouting events taking place
around the world and some hints on planning your trip.
Several years back our troop did a six week tour of europe. We started
planning it 2 1/2 years in advance, mainly so Scouts could plan their
finances and work raising money.
We used a travel agency for airfare, car rental, and eurail passes. We
planned out the rest of the trip on our own. Planning was almost as much
fun as doing. It took a great deal of research. It was a lot of work,
but it was well worth it.
