I must say I have been following this thread with great interest. It seemed
to begin with such an innocent question. Particularly since I had NEVER
heard of such things as singing to recover an item, or Scouts being made to
do push-ups as a form of punishment for not moving fast enough in their
duties at Day Camp!! I am Day Camp Director for our District and NEVER
would I have allowed this to happen in my camp, NEVER. Now there were
times that a few Scouts needed to be reminded WHY they were there, which I
did privately. I also made sure that they KNEW how much I appreciated the
time they were willing spend helping out.

Have I been living in a cave or something??? I am beginning to believe so.

I fall into that category of people who LOVE to sing. Do it often, and, do
it VERY badly. I believe someone else referred to their singing as "cruel
and unusual punishment". Well, I couldn't have said it any better. My
Scouts have never complained, they all know they couldn't possibly sound
worse than me, and look how much FUN I was having. I would NEVER EVER force
ANYONE to do something that made them
the object of ridicule, real or perceived.
