A number of years ago, when I was kinda new as a Scoutmaster, my scouts
participated in this singing to get a item back. It was all in good fun and
always at troop formation with adults present. If a scout really didn't want
to, the adult present would have the SPL return the item without any singing.
Boys will be boys. It got out of hand when scouts starting taking objects
belonging to other scouts. I put a quick end to it, and it has never been
repeated in my troop since.
