Marv,
It seems to me your two statements disagree with one another on this
one.
You say that there's nothing wrong with it if the purpose is to make
"the scout pay more attention to keeping up with his own belongings".
How does the song do that? The only way I can see is by embarassing
him into it.
You say "if the intent is to embarrass the scout, then it could be
hazing".
I'm a pro-singing guy, myself. As I have no particular talent for it,
the Scouts have asked me to stop, but I politely refuse. I enjoy it
when I'm in the mood, and I've noticed they sometimes join in.
However, many people are extremely self-conscious about singing in
public. I for one wouldn't do anything that takes the joy out of it
for anyone, and using it as a form of punsihment fits that category,
if you ask me.
