Jim,
I have a few ideas for you, but I have to ask "where have you gone before?"
Great Trail Council has a beautiful camp about 30 miles south of downtown
Cleveland in the heart of the Cuyahoga National Recreation Area. Manatoc
Scout Reservation is celebrating it's 75th year this year. The camp
encompasses about 660 acres, has a dinning hall, large swimming pool, a
brand new climbing tower, and several other program highlights. The drawback
to Manatoc is that it usually fills up around March (60% local troops, 40%
out-of-council), so it's not easy to get a reservation. If you troop is
pretty big (60+ Scouts) you'll probably get moved from one campsite to
another at least once before camp starts. You may also find the camp a bit
cramped at first.
Buckeye Council operated Seven Ranges Scout Reservation in Kensington, OH
(about 75 miles south of Cleveland). Seven Ranges is relatively new,
encompasses about 900 acres, and has the "Pipe Stone." I guarantee you won't
find Seven Ranges cramped. The campsites are all pretty big. Large troops
usually won't be moved around. They have a dinning hall, but swimming is
done in the lake. Seven Ranges is also very popular and usually fills up by
early April. They claim that troops travel for days just to camp at Seven
Ranges and the chance to earn a Pipe Stone. The week we were there we met a
troop from North Carolina.
These are just the two I'm familiar with. Buckeye Council also operates Camp
McKinley which is located somewhere near Lima, OH. One of their Venture-age
programs is a week-long backpacking trek from Camp McKinley to Seven Ranges.

the moment) and I'll be more than happy to send it along. Just let me know.
