I started thinking about what to say in a response to this thread and ended
up taking a trip down memory lane. I have been in a number of unique patrols
in my Scouting career, some of them even used a non-Scouting patch. Here's a
short list:
Pink Panther Patrol (1974) - Patrol patch was the official panther patrol
patch with the panther painted pink.
No-Name Patrol (1975) - Our patrol patch was the red and white blank patrol
patch. Our patrol flag was a blank white pillow case. We couldn't decide on
a name, so we decided on No-Name.
Pedro Patrol (1976 - 1978) - Different troop, new patrol, boring name.
Standard patch.
Akron Rubber Band (1977 Jambo) - Our patrol formed a little musical group (I
was the roadie) at the Jamboree. Our patrol patch was a specially made round
with our name embroidered in the middle.
Belated Bulls (1978 JLT) - No patrol patch.
Barking Spiders (1979 JLT) - No patrol patch, the staff was split into two
patrols but our names weren't advertised.
Spare Parts Patrol (1981 Jambo) - Jambo Trading Post C staff. We took the
name "Spare Parts" because we were all left over from some other patrol. We
also had the ability to acquire things.
Eagle Patrol (1982 BLT) - Our patrol emblem was a Harley-Davidson eagle with
the "Harley-Davidson" shield taken off.
Spare Tire Patrol (1997 Jambo) - The adult leaders of 1301 decided we needed
to have a cool patrol name. We didn't have a patch, but we had a pretty cool
flag.
Eagle Patrol (1997 Woodbadge) - Standard patch (what did you expect, it was
a Woodbadge course).
Some other patrols I've known:
Railroader Patrol (Troop 1 GTC) - Patrol patch was a patch from an actual
railroad.
Apollo Patrol (Troop 1 GTC) - Patrol patch was the Apollo 11 patch.
