Yes it is good to know how to use a map, something that every scout should
know, but nowdays there are the GPS units that have the map programmed in
it. For example the GPS 3 by Garmin. It has major roads, trails, lakes,
cities, rivers, ranges... That is just one example. So you dont need to
know how to use a map in conjuction with a GPS in some cases or with some
GPS units.
