Re: Adirondack family camping

Don,
Several years ago we family camped at Fish Creek Pond, a NY State
Park. You can get reservations throught Ticketron. Too many people forget
about the state parks. They're some of the nicest anywhere - and are
usually cheaper than the private places.

Fish Creek Pond is near Lake Placid, White Face Mountain, Tupper Lake,
the North Pole (childrens amusement park with a rather 'jolly' theme),
etc. I highly recommend it! A beautiful setting, sites ring around a
quiet pond which is lined with White Birch trees. Something I hadn't seen
elsewhere, they let vendors come in to the park. You can set up your site
and wait for the grocery bus, the fire wood truck, or the the canoe truck
if you didn't bring your own. You really never have to leave the camp
ground. There were nice, clean, restrooms and hot showers.

Of course, it never stopped raining the whole time we were there :-(
