Dear Friends:
As Governor, it is a pleasure to offer my warmest greetings to
the
participants and organizers of the Boy Scouts of America, National
Explorer
Leadership Conference. It is fantastic to see young men and women from
across
our nation participate in this leadership building experience. The fact
that
you were selected by your peers, makes this an even greater honor. I am
especially pleased to welcome you to the University of Maryland, College
Park,
where I served as an educator for 27 years, prior to becoming Governor of
our
great State. I am proud that the University of Maryland is hosting such
an
exciting and important leadership
conference. Continued on Page 4

Message from the Governor - Continued from page 1
Each participating young man and woman deserves our recognition
and support.
The Boy Scouts of America provides youth with both leadership and
teamwork
opportunities. Over the next few days you will participate in
competitions ad
learn first aid, fire and rescue, public speaking, and other valuable
skills.
These skills will help you succeed as you make your way through life.
On behalf of the citizens of Maryland and the conference
attendees, I thank
the organizers and sponsors of this event for your dedicated support of
these
young people. Through this support you are fostering and promoting their
tremendous potential, To all of you participating in this prestigious
conference, I wish you the very best of luck today and in all of your
future
endeavors!

Sincerely,
Parris N. Glendening
Governor
