The Letter from the Chief Scout Executive

Hello,

Last week it was stated on the list that one listmember understood that all
unit Committee Chairmen would be receiving a letter from the Chief Scout
Executive about changes in registration policy and procedure. There were a
number of comments about the changes and/or non changes which this
represented.

I am sure there are a number of unit Committee Chairmen on the list. May I
ask whether anyone has actually received this letter or whether anyone knows
of any official communication (written from National or a Regional office)
about these changes.

The reason I ask is:

1) I haven't heard anything about these changes or this letter
2) Neither has my SE
3) I have never heard of the CSE sending a letter directly to unit level
leaders bypassing the local council
4) It would be very unusual to have such a major change (eliminating the
responsibility of the COR for reregistration) so precipitously without
significant advance notice and preparation.

I am certain that the listmember who posted the information received it as
accurate and posted it as such. But I do want to determine whether it is
rumor at this point or if the mails are just really slow in Boston.
