I do...I found my copy about ten minutes ago, but I had to go and=
=20
wash dishes so I was delayed a bit.

Here's the part from the PowerPoint presentation that deals with=20
the Ranger as well as the other Venturing awards:

----------begin included PowerPoint script ----------------
Bronze, Gold, Silver

[Space quickly for fireworks]
The basic awards are the Venturing Bronze, Gold, and Silver Awards=
=20
with Silver being the highest.

[Slide 20 Bronze]

[5 Spaces]

The Venturing Bronze award is available in each of the following=20
five areas: High Adventure, Arts & Hobbies, Sports, Youth=20
Ministries, and Sea Scouts.

[Space Required for Gold]
=20
The recognition device is a campaign-type ribbon that is worn above=
=20
the left breast pocket on the uniform. One Bronze will be required=
=20
for Gold, but a Venturer may earn all five if they want to.

[Slide 21 Logo]

Here is a couple of sample requirements:

=46rom Sports: Demonstrate by means of a presentation at a crew=20
meeting, Cub Scout or Boy Scout meeting or other group meeting that=
=20
you know first aid for injuries or illnesses that could occur while=
=20
playing sports including: hypothermia, heatstroke, heat exhaustion,=
=20
frostbite, dehydration, sunburn, blisters, hyperventilation,=20
bruises, strains, sprains, muscle cramps, broken, chipped,=20
loosened, or knocked-out teeth, bone fracture, nausea, and=20
suspected injuries to the back, neck, and head.

Also from Sports: Organize and manage a sports competition, such=
=20
as a softball game/s between your crew and another crew, between=20
two Cub Scout dens or packs, between two Boy Scout patrols or=20
troops, or other youth group. You must recruit at least two other=
=20
people to assist you in managing your competition.

=46rom Youth Ministries: Produce or be a cast member in some type of=
=20
entertainment production with a religious or ethical theme such as=
=20
a play, puppet show, or concert for a group such as a children=92s=
=20
group, retirement home, homeless shelter, or Cub or Boy Scout=20
group.

=46rom Arts & Hobbies: Organize a hobby meet (a place where people=
=20
gather to display and share information about their hobbies) for=20
your crew, another crew, church group, Cub Scout or Boy Scout=20
group, retirement home, group home, or other group.

[Space to green]

In Arts & Hobbies, Youth Ministries, and Sports, Venturers must=20
complete at least nine of twelve requirements. For Sea Scouts they=
=20
must complete the requirements for the Ordinary rank which is half=
=20
way to the already successful and existing Sea Scouting=20
Quartermaster Award. For High Adventure, Venturers must complete=
=20
one half of the new Ranger program. This means they will have to=
=20
complete at least four core requirements and at least two=20
electives.

[Slide 22 Ranger]

The Ranger Award is probably one of the most ambitious facets of=20
our new program. This very challenging high adventure skills=20
program will offer a beautiful recognition piece that features an=
=20
updated version of the BSA=92s 1940=92s Ranger medal. It features an=
=20
eagle superimposed over a compass dial. It is sterling silver and=
=20
is suspended from a green and white ribbon which is suspended from=
=20
a silver bar that says, Ranger. In addition to the presentation=20
medal, Rangers will receive a silver bar the simply says Ranger to=
=20
wear on their field uniform.

[Slide 23 Silver]

[Slide 24 Ranger]

At great risk of life and limb, we played 007 to sneak into the=20
Supply Division to get this candid photo of the Silver Award=20
(Pause) and the Ranger Award. These are only prototypes which do=
=20
not show the ribbons and top bars. Plus there will be some=20
modifications to the Ranger.

[Slide 25 Guidebook]

[4 Spaces]

[Space individual book]

Guidance for the program will be available from a new Ranger=20
Guidebook, which is presently being published and will have=20
approximately 200 and will have a new interesting binding and=20
special paper coating for outdoor durability. It is designed as an=
=20
individual Venturer handbook.

[Slide 26 Ranger medal]

The requirements for Ranger have be painstakingly written, and=20
rewritten many times by high adventure Exploring volunteers and=20
experts in the fields represented in the guide.Requirements for=20
Ranger include:

[Slide 27 Core Requirements]
Earn eight mandatory core requirements which include:

(Larry's listing previously posted)

[Slide 30 Ranger]

After having been personally involved in developing this program=20
over the pass two years, I just can=92t tell you how excited I am be=
=20
rolling this out to you (Pause)The Ranger was primarily designed=
=20
for Venturers in a high adventure program, but is open to all in=20
the outdoor/high adventure setting. Challenge is a key word. The=
=20
kinds of things Rangers do are challenging. Rangers are tough and=
=20
can bear up under the most difficult circumstances. Rangers don=92t=
=20
give up.

[Slide 32 Elite Outdoorsman]=20

Hopefully, you can see we are trying to create a new breed in the=
=20
BSA. Senior scout types who are elite outdoorsmen who can assist=
=20
others as they learn to appreciate the outdoors. We believe the=20
award will possibly take at least 18 months. The developing=20
committee had a real challenge in developing a program that would=
=20
be attractive and attainable for a 14-year-old female Venturer with=
=20
little background in outdoor skills while also making it=20
challenging for the skilled Venturer. We hope it will be=20
especially attractive to older Boy Scouts who have attained the=20
rank or Eagle and are looking for something else to do or the older=
=20
Boy Scout who has dropped out of Boy Scouting due to lack of=20
interest. =20

[Slide 33 Hands]

[Space BSA Quickly]

[Space LDS Quickly]

The Ranger is also attractive to one of our partners who=20
contributed to the early development stages of the program, the LDS=
=20
church. This defined program will be helpful as a program support=
=20
tool for the new advisors to their Venturing crews. It should also=
=20
be more attractive to other church sponsored crews. When we=20
approach a minister about starting a crew in his church, oftentimes=
=20
the question is, how will this improve my youth program. =20
Advancement and recognition can now be added to our response.
----------

Hope this information helps those that are planning to transition=
=20
to the new Venturing program. A note: many local Councils will see=
=20
a version of this script and the slides that come with it as this=
=20
presentation will be presented by local Councils during meetings=20
next month or the month afterwards.
