bi-sexual explorer post president

G. John Marmet (GMarmet@AOL.COM)
Mon, 13 Jul 1998 18:55:40 EDT

In a message dated 98-07-11 15:43:14 EDT, you write:

<< She simply cannot be a member of our organization based on a personal
choice she has made. >>

To restate the facts, as I recall them: a youth Explorer president declared
to the youth members that she was bi-sexual.

I will repeat another question, and make my own. Is there a written rule that
makes this declaration an offense requiring removal of the youth president? I
donot know of one. I am willing to be educated, but I do not know of one.

I don't believe the Youth Protection rules apply because she has not done
anything predatory. I don't believe the adult rule against homosexual leaders
applies because she is not an adult. And frankly I don't know where that rule
is written either.

I don't want to "start" a gays thread here. I do want to make sure this
capable (as was stated) Explorer president is not run off, unless she has to
be.

Yours in Scouting,

G. John Marmet, ASM
