Our Troop uses a wall board on which all of the ranks are represented by a
painted rank badge. Below each rank is a double row of very small cup hooks.
Each Scout is given a small block of wood (3/4x3/4x4) that has his name
painted on it. The blocks have two hooks on the top and bottom which is used
to hang below his current rank. Each Scout in the same rank then hangs his
block below the one above. As he advances in rank, and is recognized at a
Troop meeting, he moves his block forward. So far it has worked great.
We are in a military area with a large amount of Scouts coming and going
also. When a Scout leaves the area or Troop, the name is simply sanded off
and it can be used for another new incoming Scout.
