Thank you for info on Career Arrows

To Everyone who responded so quickly to my request for information on how to
make a Career Arrow, I thank you wholeheartedly! My 11 year old son crossed
over to his Boy Scout Troop in May, 1998 and was at his first week of boy
scout camp and I had read about these arrows previously, I wanted to mark
his arrow which he received with a beautiful document made by a parent, with
his ranks through out his Cub Scouting Career as a surprise to him. We
picked him up yesterday, Saturday, and he was thrilled to see how beautiful
his arrow looked and how it showed how much he accomplished.
Did anyone else's son return home after a week at camp looking somehow
taller, more confident, and I cannot believe how responsible he is acting.
We got home last night around 9 pm. My son was exhausted and was looking
forward to a good night's sleep in his own bed. I told him he could sleep
late and I would wake him right before Mass (around 10 am). Well, my
husband and I woke up around 8:30 am to the sound of someone shuffling
chairs in the kitchen. We have four children and thought it must be one of
the younger one's moving a chair to the cabinet to reach a bowl. When we
came downstair, the kitchen table was set absolutely beautiful with a
bouquet of daisy's in the middle. A menu was made and my Boy Scout son was
taking orders from everyone for their breakfast. Even the way he prepared
breakfast, everyone was taken care of evenly, not one at a time. He said he
was used to getting up early at camp and had been on waiter duty five times
last week. Right now he is out showing my husband and his two younger
brothers what he learned about fishing (we have a small pond in front of our
home). Oh yah, I left out that after breakfast (each child is assigned a
kitchen chore) he was cleaning the entire kitchen and when I told him the
other's should be doing their chores, he said it was alright, he felt like
doing it.
How long does this last??? I feel like my little boy went off to camp and
came back a young man. I am thrilled and at the same time sad.
I always knew Boy Scouting was a wonderful program, but I can honestly say
that I have witnessed a transformation in my son that makes my already tall
11 year old stand even taller and with a different kind of pride. Not one
that he wants to show off, but one that he wants to share.
Any other first time Boy Scouting stories out there. I would love to hear
them.
