Probably a better and easier way is to immediately remove that person from
the accounts and have the bank make sure checks signed by that person are
flagged. Also, have the bank issue new checks and the last couple of months
statements. Working with the bank will cause less stress than getting the
old stuff back.

I am sure this line raised as many red flags around the entire list as it
did inside my head (and Heaven knows there's enough room inside there for
plenty of red flags!). Whether this person is just being obstinate, or has
something to hide by holding on to the checkbooks, your committee should be
focusing on getting those back immediately. You may even need to call on
some outside resources from your district, council or charter organization.
Good Luck.
