Answering Several threads:
1. Campout Transportation.
Our Troop allows parents to bring Scouts late or pickup early. However, I
explain to the parent what will be going on at camp so that they can decide
if it is worth the effort. Normally, if the Scout can get to camp early
Saturday morning or leaves late Saturday he will participate in the program.
As for not doing his share of setup or cleanup, that is something he needs
to work out with his patrol.
We have had parents drive 3 hours (one way) to get a scout to camp by 0600
so that he could participate.
2. Summer Camp behavior.
Our troop also calls the parents to come get disruptive Scouts. Last summer
we were at camp in South Carolina (11 hour drive one way) and had to call a
parent to come get their Scout on Wednesday AM, they got there on Thursday
late PM. The Troop Committee asked the Scout to leave the troop after we
got back from camp. Our permission slip for summer camp this year (VA 14
hour drive) has a specific place for parents to sign indicating that they
will come get their Scout if called.
Just my 2 cents
