I've already told the Jambo '01 list to watch this, since they are working on
the same sort of thing for that event on a larger scale, but we'd appreciate
it if everyone interested was involved.

Within 24 hours I'll be leaving Chicago on a Long, Roundabout trip to get to
Wisconsin and get #1 son off of his camp staff job for a week and head east to
the National Explorer Leadership Conference. The conference runs from the14th
to the 18th and is at the University of Maryland at College Park. Plans,
activities, and competitions for the week are too numerous, but let me point
out right now that we will be working, with a very small staff, to provide
Hometown News Reporters with press releases home, a daily newsletter, and
we'll also try to get the text of the newsletter out to the assorted lists and
we plan to get the newsletter up on the NELC website at the URL

We'd appreciate it if you would all add that site to your places to check for
the week and see if this concept of involving the entire Scouting community
through the 'net works as well as we hope. The newsletter is called
"Postscripts" for those who want to learn how to go straight there.

Those of you on NELCnet, share it with your parents, your Post members who are
staying home, and other units so they can join in and see what happens. In
fact, if you let your parents near your computer we encourage them to
communicate with us during the week using NELCnet (sorry, no, we won't deliver
personal messages to participants and we cannot be used to wire you more
money).
