It has always been my observation that the boys who are most successful at
Scouting are those whose parents understand the program best, who are able to
help where help is possible, to encourage where encouragement is a good thing
and to make the time available for the boy to do the things he needs to do to
be successful. These parents are, by and large, Scouters. They need not be.
But Scouters do understand the program and are willing to give their sons the
time and the resources to do the job right. They are not necessarily any more
likely to "push" the boy, in my opinion, than any other parent.
