Re: Summertime Pack Award

Rogers, Nancy (Nancy.Rogers@MAIL.HOUSE.GOV)

I'm speaking from memory here. As we interpreted the Summertime Pack
Award, all that is required is the Pack Committee plan or designate a
minimum number of events (at least 3) to help the pack stay together
during the summer "recess". No minimum participation is required, but
at least one cub must participate in the events to qualify, i.e., an
event that is planned that no one shows up for doesn't happen. The
participation rules are used in determining whether a den gets the award
(50% of den members at all events) or the boy gets the individual award
(participation in at least 3 of the planned events).

Since families are gone at various times throughout the summer, an event
a month is preferable. We always had a back-to-school ice cream social
before classes started that qualified for an August activity. That
teamed with day camp, a fishing derby, participation in a July 4th
parade, etc. meant the pack received the award.

This probably sounds as clear as mud. I hope it helps.
