It's a Mess

I don't know what I would do in this situation. Maybe there is some reason
why the mom appears overly concerned about her son. Her concern about
skin cancer may be that someone that she cares about how this. Maybe there
are other reasons that would at least shed some light on the subject.
The fact that the dad carried the foot locker but then agreed with Joe about
the mom being too involved seems that the dad may be in agreement, but he
still does not interfere.

When my son went to camp for the first time a year ago, it was the first
time that he had been away from me for a week. My business trips usually
last 3-5 days, and the kids stay with my mom. He and I decided that it
would be best if he got a ride from another parent to where the boys were
departing. I was concerned that I would cry and embarrass him, and he was
concerned that would get him started.

When their troop went rock climbing, I chose not to go. There are some
things it's okay for me to hear about, but I really don't want to see it
firsthand.

I trust the adults that go with him. I knew many of them before he joined
the troop. Maybe that's what these parents need to do. Meet and feel
comfortable with the people that are the adult leadership.

The troop is talking about going white water rafting next year. Again, I
feel pretty sure that it will be an event where I will be amazed and impress
by the pictures, but I won't be there when it happens.

Anyway, maybe I'm ducking my head in the sand, but this keeps him from
getting embarrassed and me from worrying about things that he should be
allowed to enjoy without seeing me stressed out about it. There are plenty
of other ways I can support him and the troop. I'm happy to be a merit
badge counselor. I don't mind doing the drug awareness for the second class
requirement. I would mind a phone call asking for a pillow.
