(Fwd) Things to take to camp

Yo,
I'm glad I did not read this message until just now. I'm sitting here
catching up on unread e-mail, especially in Scouts-L since 256 of them
are listed as unread. Yea, I read lot's of them at work, but there are lot's
more I have not read.
The thing that makes reading this one special, right now, is that I am
beaming. My son asked me to come upstairs to show me a
"contraption" that he created. He had taken the rope that we used for
knot tying practice this weekend on our first camping trip as a Webelos
Den and used it to tie up his bedroom door. Cathy, my wife, had asked
him to put something in front of the door, while all the windows were open
and she was getting fresh air in the house. MY BOY (dad says with
pride) took his rope, tied a textbook perfect clove hitch knot on the door
knob and then a slightly mangled half-hitch (which he thought was a
sheets bend). This from a kid who got very frustrated with knot tying over
the weekend.
Kelly, I could not agree with you more. Bring a boy you love. Have
some fun with the group of them. Oh Boy, did they like the foil-pack
dinners. Teach them something along the way and everyone comes out
a winner.

It's kind of hard to tell you exactly, as camps differ so much, and I
don't know what area you are from. But what the heck, I've never been
accused of not having an opinion.

Most important! Bring a boy or two that you love, and swell with
pride as you watch him go down the trail with his stuff for merit-badge
class. Then kick back and have another cup of coffee, read your book,
take a nap, and enjoy life.
