I am responsible for the beads and totems for our OA lodge (the OA handles
them in my council). Here is the list of beads we use, and what they stand
for:
Blue-fair weather
Black-rain *on the activity*
White-snow *on the activity* (on the ground when the activity
starts does not count)
Yellow-district event
Clear-below zero
Purple-below freezing
Pink-OA Ordeal weekend (may also soon become NOAC)
Red-summer camp (one red for the whole week)
Green-JLT
Brown-national high adventure activity
Orange-National or World jamboree, or equivalent
If a troop is eligible for more than one bead, the PLC is supposed to decide
which one the troop will wear. One bead *per activity* is generally
awarded; beads are also given, therefore, for service projects, fundraising
events, etc, though the focus is camping nights.
We are considering, as I stated, adding new beads, though the proposal for
NOAC is only one on the table presently.
Hope this answers your questions

I have a question of the group. What do all the bead colors represent on
the bead totems? Black-rain, Blue-good weather, etc? How does your
units work this?
