Dave Loomis asked:

>why has the background of the COR (Chartered Organizational
>Representative, for those that didn't know) position patch been changed
>to/established as tan.

Because the COR is considered a unit-level position now for some silly
reason, Dave; not as a Council/District position. Therefore, the tan
backgrounded patch was done.

>The SC/IR (it's predecessors) position patchs had a light blue
>background, which has been used for some time to indicate district
>positions, vis the District Committee patch. The COR is the ONLY
>automatic/ex officio district committee member, and should, to my way of

I agree with you....I don't know exactly why they chose to do this, but the
BSA's thought process with regard to the new "colors" for the unit patch
was first used with the Boy Scouting division and as far as I know, has been
abandoned. I wouldn't be surprised to see the fullcolor patches come back
or the red and light green colors reversed so that Boy Scouting units get
the red backgrounded patches and the Venture program gets the ones with the
light green. THAT would make sense to ME....but hey...nobody asked me!
*hehehehee*

>Using tan as the background color would seem to distance these folks >from
the Exploring and Cub Scout uniform colors.

At least the Cub Scouting folk, Dave....the majority of Exploring leaders
don't wear the field uniform, so unless it's an outdoor or a program running
similar to a Scout troop, they would never know the difference....
