Probably no one. OTOH, would you wear a CSP with a star of david on it? Or
a Buddha? Or <pick a symbol that represents what you arent> ? Probably not.
Nor would I.
I think *that* is really the point here. Its not that anyone (IMO) is
trying to jam the Jewish faith down St. Louis Council's throat, nor yank
their right to be Christian, etc. I wouldnt wear a CSP with an Islamic
symbol on it and I certainly wouldnt expect an Islamic Scout in our pack
(we have a couple) to wear one with a cross (etc). Same deal with a Jewish
Scout(er), of which we have at least 1.
A Scout is certainly Reverent, but that Scout might be Christian, Jewish,
Buddhist, Islamic, yada yada yada. If necessary, have an alternate CSP
made. I imagine it would make the Jewish Scouts and Scouters feel very
welcome (often they do not, at least where we live) as Scouts/Scouters vs.
as non-Christians.
I wouldnt want to lose a boy or a leader out of our pack over this. If it
cost us a few bucks to have an alternate CSP made, so what. The *boy* is
whats important.
