A couple that has an area rug cleaning service said to lightly moisten some thick
terry cloth and place it over the "waxed" area. Then, place an iron set to the
very lowest temperature on the terry cloth. The wax should melt and be drawn uo
into the terry cloth. If the wax does not gently melt, raise the temperature a
touch. Do that until there is a very gradual melting. Coloured wax may leave a
stain.
This method must not be used on carpet made of poly propylene fibres. The carpet
will melt!!!
