Waal, Heloise would tell you to apply ice cubes to it until it's hard, and
scrape up as much as you can with a table knife (not sharp enuf to damage
fibers), then use your iron over paper towels to melt and absorb the residue
until you can't get any more up. This will take you most of a weekend, and is
hot, dirty, and boring as heck.
Me, I'd say, "What were we thinking, carpeting in the kitchen! This is why
it's a bad idea! Time to rip it out and put in some nice appropriate
flooring!"
And then do it. <G> Every cloud has a silver lining. Maybe get some nice new
counter tops too, while you're at it.
And if your husband is really gonna kill you over this, consider replacing
him, too. been there, done that, worked out a lot better the second time
around <GGG>!
