In a message dated 98-05-27 02:03:22 EDT, you write:
<< We have an adult and at least one Scout in our Troop interested in
obtaining the Espanol interpreters strip. --snip-- The problem is that we
are having difficulty finding anyone to test either the adult or the Scout.
>>
Does the local high school have a Spanish class? The instructor would be an
obvious "tester." Are there any Scouters in the area that you know of who are
fluent and can vouche for the "testee's" fluency?
<< A concern is the
process whereby the Scout is aware that he must be tested, whereas the
adult is on the honor system, even though both have identical
requirements to 'show their knowledge', and wear the identical
interpreter strip. >>
A valid concern. The requirements are the same, and I also feel that the
testing should be the same. It's not fair to have seperate rules here.
Whoever ends up administrating the test for the interpreters strip, make sure
you get their name and start that list so that others can follow your lead!
