Our family did that area last year on vacation. Don't forget Wind Cave:
a
unique experience where you can see formations only found elsewhere in
Russia.
My favorite site was Hot Springs Mammoth Site. A sinkhole excavation
with 51 mammoths in site. Ask real nice if you can try the atl-atl ( a
prehistoric
spear throwing aid). Badlands are awesome. So is Devil's Tower (seems
like a long drive out that small road, then BAM!!! here is the KOA,etc.)
You can see Crazy Horse from the highway.
I would skip the National Woodcarvers Museumif I went again, not really
much.
If you go into Rapid City, check out Prairie's Edge store.
cWatch out for changes in speed limits....especially in construction
zones.
The changes come up fast and they do have patrol cars clocking you.
