Mike Blair asked for word games. I'm not sure if this is the type of thing
he was after, but here's one that will catch out 90% of people:
Start by saying "You are the driver of a train travelling from _____ to
_____ "
continue for a couple of minutes giving lots of details of speed, stops
along the way, number of passengers aboard and getting on and off at each
stop and so on. Most people will be busily mentally keeping tally of the
number of passengers and so on in preparation for a question like "how many
passengers" or "how long did the trip take" Instead you ask "what is the
name of the driver?" - 9 times out of 10 people will look blankly and ask
"how am i supposed to know?"
