Re: "Charter Name Scout" question

He's been in since he was 12? He's a Life Scout? No interest in becoming
Eagle? A Varsity track team member?
Seems simple to me, go all the way.
Not everyone can be an Eagle Scout (remember that 2%-4% number?) and I'll bet
not that many make it to Life either. So now he has found an interest in high
school for which we should consider him less a Scout? NOT!
The days are long gone when Scouting can be a boy's ONLY or even PRIMARY
activity. Not necessarily to our liking, but that's the way it is. I'm
thrilled to pieces our Troop will be able to present THREE perfect attendance
awards next month . . . out of 60 Scouts.
And what do you tell the rest of the Troop? Tell them you hope and pray every
one of them would have the presence of mind and courage to do the same thing
next year or in twenty years, or even if they chose something else over Scouts
in their life . . . that this is one of the things Scouting is all about.
