At a meeting recently, plans for the 4th of July were discussed. Your
Pack or Troop or Post or Ship may want to get in on it, if you're
American. (I can see why the British won't be too keen, though. <g>)
At 2p.m. on the 4th, the patriotic and heritage societies (DAR, SAR, Am.
Legion, VFW, etc) plan to Ring Out for Freedom -- in other words, conduct
a public bell ringing. Contact your local affiliates for more
information, but I don't *believe* there's any sign-up or rigamarole. A
group may participate, as far as I know, by each member ringing his/her
own bell on his/her doorstep, or by gathering in a group, or by joining
another organization at a specific site.
