My boys and I have just gotten involved with Scouting during the last
year. My oldest son, John-David, went through the Webelos program and
completed 16 badges/pins and earned his Arrow of Light award. He
crossed over last Monday night to join a local Boy Scout Troop here in
Roswell, Georgia. I was his Assistant Webelos Leader and am now
transitioning to Pack Webelo Liaison Leader so our Pack can earn Honor
Unit next year.
I am working on a District-wide project that hopefully will increase the
numbers of boys crossing over from Webelos to Boy Scouts. Currently,
although we have one of the largest and fastest growing councils in the
country, only about 25% of Webelos end up crossing over to Boy Scouts.
My youngest son, Andrew, thoroughly enjoyed his tenure as a Wolf scout
this past year and having his daddy as his den leader. We had 12 boys
in his den and look forward to an exciting year as a Bear den.
