Measure of Success

During Wood Badge last year one of our advisors said "Success is measured
by how each Scout feels about his part in Troop decisions".
Last night during a First Class Scoutmaster Conference, I asked the Scout
what he liked about the Troop. He said "I liked how the Scouts do all the
planning and running of everything". Then I asked him why that was
important to him. With a big smile on his face, he said, "because we know
what is Fun and I can give some of my own ideas". I was caught so off guard
by his response that I struggled to remember what else I wanted to talk
about. The meeting ended early.
Sometimes it's hard to tell by looking at it, but the Troop is doing OK.
