Setting a bad example

Tom, I'm sorry I have to disagree with you. There is NO such thing as
sensible smoking. Smoking causes cancer, emphysema, hardening of the
arteries, can lead to stroke and asthma. The dangers are as real for the
non-smokers as they are to the smokers. The danger is especially high for
children brought up in a smoking family. Smoking has recently been shown to
be a contributing factor in memory loss in senior citizens.
One only has to read the list of pending lawsuits against cigarette
manufacturers to understand that smoking is bad for a person, and those
surrounding him/her.
If a scouter wishes to smoke, that is his choice. If he wishes to smoke in
front of MY children, that is MY choice. And, more importantly, if he is in
uniform or at a scouting event...I WILL inform him of the BSA's stance on
this activity.
