No impact campfire

We're planning a very special campfire for the closing day of our
Cub/Webelos Twilight camp this year. Our current dilemma is that the
church that is hosting the camp has given permission for the fire
on-site, but has asked that we leave 'no trace' -- i.e. don't scorch
the grass or anything . . .
Does anyone on the list have experience with this sort of 'no impact'
camp fire?
