it's coming!
Bob,
I have been to the park, located the statue, and photographed it
for you!!! It was really neat and located in a wonderful park and
setting. I am not certain of the origins of the statue, but my friend
said that he would translate the information sign for us. The story of
the wounded US soldier and the salute and subsequent help by the
Japanese soldier is true, but I don't know who actually provided the
statue.
It is really neat, the two soldiers are depicted on a bas-relief
sculpture on a wall recreating the war-time scene. About 10 feet in
front of this, there is a Tokyo Troop boy scout that is saluting the
sculpture - he is about four feet tall.
I got pictures of everything and will have them processed and
sent to you shortly. You are gonna love it !!!
Thanks for letting me help, I enjoyed the experience and the
spirit of the sculpture was wonderful!
Michael
