3 G'S

Scouters,
What I don't understand is why there even is an argument about this 3
G's controversy. I know where the answer to the whole agrument is located.
It is located in the pieces of writing all Scouts and Scouters alike should
follow( if every one alive followed it, it would be nice), the Scout law and
the Scout Oath.
I quote the Boy Scout Handbook pg. 7
"A Scout is HELPFUL-A scout is concerned about other people. He
willingly volunteers to help others....
A Scout is FRIENDLY-A scout is a friend to all...He seeks to
understand others. He respects those ideas and custom that are different from
his own.
A Scout is COURTEOUS-A scout is polite to everyone regardless of age
or position. He knows that good manners make it easier for people to get along
together.
A Scout is KIND-A scout understands there is strength in being gentle.
He treats others as he wants to be treated....
A Scout is CHEERFUL- A scout looks for the bright side of life...He
tries to make others happy."
The scout oath that all scouts and scouters alike swear to tells us to
"to obey the scout law" and "help other people at all times." These five
points and their descriptions plus the exerpt from the scout oath taken from
the same book all scouts follow should provide a solution to this arguement.
If scouts and scouters do not wish to follow their own set of morals they
should consider rewriting them.
Why can't we spread the scouting movement to all peoples, all
religions(yes I consider atheism a religion)and, all sexual orientations. We
may not like it but we must if we actually mean it when we recite the scout
oath and law. The answer is right under our noses, in black and white.
This message should put an end to the 3 G's controversy if the Boy
Scouts of America continues to bar membership from Girls, the Godless, and
Gays, they should consider rewriting the basis for the scouting movement, The
Scout Oath and The Scout Law. Until then they cannot ban membership from
anyone.

Thank
you for your time,

Ted Aamland
