Personally, I subscribe to this list for info on how to be a better
Scouter. I am not sure that politics and policies serve that goal. Though
debates on the 3 G's and other controversial issues of policy are important
and have their place in the larger realm of Scouting in the real world,
this list IMHO doesn't and shouldn't try to represent the whole of Scouting.

I will continue to subscribe to this list with or without the 3G's because
there are so many folks here with more Scouting knowledge and experience
than I will ever have even if I remain a Scouter my whole life, which I
hope to do. I will learn from those folks, and i will make new friends, and
benefit from the treasure trove of wisdom that members bring to the list.

I hope that many of you see Scouts-L in a similar light. I would also hope
that others who see their time and energies as best spent pursuing policy
changes and confronting controversial issues would seek forums whose
purpose is to discuss those issues.

The 3G's rhetoric I have seen in Scouts-L from both sides of these issues
in the past fews days has in some instances been decidedly un-Scoutlike,
"Courteous", "Kind", and "Cheerful" coming quickly to mind. This, to me, is
more disturbing than the posts themselves.

Just MHO,
