No one was suggesting a debate about these issues. I agree that there
could be no agreement reached, as I have had my share of personal
attacks over the gay issue. What I was suggesting was a one time poll
taken to see if there is a general consensus of support for the BSA's
stand.

If you read the rec.scouting.issues or my earlier message, you know that
there has some question been brought up as to the freedom of speech
within the Scouting program in this country.

It seems to me that we have an organization speaking on behalf of all of
us, and nobody has been asked where we stand. I don't know about all of
you, but that is slightly disturbing to me. For the record, I am
adamantly opposed to allowing gays in Scouting, and it is my believe
that a survey would bear this out.

What is wrong with getting some feel for where Scouter's stand on these
issues?

After all, this is a volunteer led movement, or is it?
