Re: Webelos Cross-over

Linda,

By all means try to keep something going over the summer. When I was
cubmastering, we didn't have monthly pack meetings, but we did have a
monthly activity (planned the previous summer at our planning meeting).
These usually consisted of a picnic and field day in June, a swimming
activity and day camp in July, summer camp and bowling or some other
activity in August, and then starting back up with troop metings in
September. You can also earn the summer activity award this way, as can
boys who make it to all the events.

As far as giving a present to the boys and leaders who will be leaving
you for Boy Scouts, by all means recognize them in some special way if
you think this is appropriate. You don't have to, but it is a very nice
gesture, and I'm sure the boys and the adults would appreciate it.

We used to give little homemade awards to the parents, and our boys all
signed our cross-over bridge with inedelible magic marker. The bridge is
getting quite a collection of signatures on it now. The boys all liked
to sign the bridge; I think they liked the idea of some tangible
remembrance of their passage through the pack.

Anyway, I'd say go ahead and make some award if you think it's
appropriate--and by all means do something over the summerk!!!
