New Scout Books Coming?

Richard Axtman (pack66@poboxes.COM)

Hello,

Last night, at Cub Scout Leader Roundtable, I heard a rumor that BSA
is coming out with NEW Wolf and Bear Cub Scout Books this summer
(around June or July), followed by NEW Webelos and Boy Scout Books
in the coming winter (around December or January).

Has anyone else heard about this too?

Is this rumor True of False?

I know some Cub Scout Packs hand out books in May at their Crossover/
Graduation to a new rank. If there are going to be new books coming
out you may want to hold off until the fall for the new books.

This brings up a few questions:

1) If true, when will the new books hit the shelves in the Scout
Shops and stores?

2) Have you been around before when Scout books were changed
and released?

3) If True, what's BSA policy on outdated book returns, if they're
new/unused? Because some units may have an inventory of these
outdated manuals that will need replacement if this is true.

4) What happens to the old books?

5) Have any ideas on what the new book changes are?

6) What have you heard and what do you think on this subject?

This may be related to earlier posting we had about rumored program
and requirement changes. Maybe these are true too and that's why new
books are being published.
