Just a point of historical fact - the atrocioties of slavery took place under
the Stars and Bars from 1861-65. They (and as you point out later, Jim Crow)
took place under the Stars and Stripes for considerably longer than that. By
your arguement, then, we should hide Old Glory in shame. (Without even
considering the treatment of Native Americans under the Stars and Stripes.)
