Don't get excited about swimming being a pre-requisite for Lifesaving merit
badge. It really is one, and is listed in the book as one, as are a couple
of others.
I'm surprised by the canoeing and rowing mbs having pre-reqs. Youn only
*have* to pass the swimmer's test. I don't know about small-boat sailing.
But, this is an interesting question. My council lists swimming as a
pre-requisite for motorboating and waterskiing. I have several boys who
*wanted* to take it, but only one could. I haven't looked to see if this
is an added requirement in the new year, but I know they weren't before.
