I must admit that it's been a few years since I was a
Cubmaster, but I think that this issue has already
gotten out of hand.
IMHO the committee should let the boy have the paws, for
several reasons. First, the activity will have been
completed. Second, I believe that BSA's position is to
not penalize a youth for the failure(s) of adults. Third,
we should keep the best interests of the boy in mind. Do
we want to drive him out of scouting at the very beginning?
The purpose of the Tiger Cub program is to bring boys and
their families together while having fun, and giving them
an entry into the world of scouting. I would suggest that
the committee look at the overall purpose of the program
before they take any action, and decide what would best
meet that goal.
Also, this is an opportunity to turn that angry parent who
is obviously committed into an asset. Why not ask her to
serve as Tiger Cub Organizer (or whatever it's called now)
for the next year, to "help" the pack make sure that things
are run smoothly in the future?
