This is not totally true. BSA insurance covers registered members as well as
prospective scouts attending for "recruiting purposes." I don't think there
is a hard-and-fast limit on the number of outings covered, but certainly one
or two would be okay.

I would say that too, after one or two events. After that, the prospective
scout should be able to make an informed decision.
