Re: Unit Approval on Eagle Application

SIXPALMS (SIXPALMS@AOL.COM)
Mon, 19 Jan 1998 19:50:29 EST

Joe Allessi asked about the Unit signatures on the Eagle Application after the
BOR.
Joe also asked for guidance in the appeal of the Eaglr for lack of attendance
and spirit etc.

Joe,

The signatures are there to be sure that the application was
reviewed by the SM as well as the Committee. All the MBs were checked , the
project was signed off in the workbook, the leadership dates were correct,
etc. I have the CC sign for the Unit the SM has his own spot to sign.

As for the BOR. Does the unit have an attendance policy for
advancement.?
For example: To qualify for the next progress award a Scout must attend____%
of meetings and ____% of activities. Special instances will be considered.
We have found that these policies in writing by unit resolve these conflicts
before they happen.Does the Scout know what is expected and was he counselled
prior to his BOR? .These percentages can be written a sstandard or if a
problem exists can be worked out at the SM conference at the last progress
award. I prefer a unit standard.

Good Luck,
