A. Hold one of the following leadership positons or a preform a special
leadership project approved by the SM....I think that's how the req. i
worded. So it would hold no one back from eagle.
As you state below, scouting is a way to experience life but if you take
away part of scouting with rules that pertain to nothing to do with
scouting you take away the ability to experience life. You also take away
the ability of the scout to show his leadership abilities and develop.
B.Scouting should not be a way of life, you should use it to experencie
life. Scouting is to help youth, but eagle is no replacement for an high
school diploma and high rank. Ealge alone can not get someone into
college. And, not all can be pro. scouters.
Sorry Peter but scouting should and is a way of life. I would much rather
know people that try to live by the scout law and oath than people that put
their schooling and high rank above all else. I have known a lot of people
that are like that and they appear very shallow to me.
We also are not here to make a way for boys to get into college. If making
eagle helps so much the better, but that should not be the reason for the
scout wanting to make eagle.
